Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) Cable featuring black PVC sheath, XLPE insulation, copper conductors, and steel wire armouring. Designed for mains electricity applications including underground laying, power networks, and incoming mains to residential and commercial buildings.
Ideal for direct burial applications with steel wire armouring providing enhanced protection from external damage. The XLPE insulation offers excellent resistance to various fluids, chemicals, and UV exposure, with superior heat stability.
BS 5467, IEC/EN 60502-1, IEC/EN 60228, Flame Retardant according to IEC/EN 60332-1-2
- Conductors: Plain circular, compacted or shaped stranded copper or aluminium conductor (RE=circular solid, CC=compacted circular stranded, SM=sector shaped stranded)
- Insulation: XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) rated at 90°C
- Color Identification:
- 1 Core: Red or Black
- 2 Cores: Red, Black
- 3 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue
- 4 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue, Black
- 5 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, Green
- Above 5 Cores: Black Cores with White numerals
- Assembly/Inner Sheath: Insulated conductors laid-up with non-hygroscopic fillers and bedded with extruded PVC layer
- Armour: Galvanized Steel Wires (single core cables use Aluminium wire armour)
- Sheath: Extruded PVC Type ST2 (IEC 60502-1) or Type 9 (BS 6346/5467)
Available with specialized sheathing materials including Fire Retardant PVC, Anti-Termite PVC, Anti-Rodent PVC, Sunlight resistant PVC, Oil Resistant PVC, LLDPE, MDPE, HDPE, LSZH, and CPE upon request.
Cables can be supplied with flame retardant PVC outer sheath compliant with IEC 60332-3-22, IEC 60332-3-23, and IEC 60332-3-24. Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) materials available according to IEC 60502-1, BS 7211, BS 6724 standards.
