Overhead insulated cables are composed of copper or aluminum conductors, inner shielding layer, weather-resistant insulating material and outer shielding layer. Aerial insulated cables have not only the power transmission characteristics of power cables, but also the strong mechanical characteristics of overhead cables. Compared with bare wires, overhead insulated cables have many advantages such as small laying span, high reliability, and good anti-aging performance. They are the types of cables that are actively selected for urban power projects.

Overhead insulated cables, overhead wires equipped with an insulating layer and protective sheath, are a new power transmission method between overhead wires and underground cables.
Overhead cables are single-core, and can be divided into hard aluminum wire structure, hard drawn copper wire structure, aluminum alloy wire structure, steel core or aluminum alloy core support structure and self-supporting three-core pattern structure (wire core can be hard aluminum or hard copper wire) and so on.
It has the main characteristics of high power supply reliability, good power supply safety, convenient installation and maintenance, and reasonable economy.

Conductors are concentrically stranded, compressed 1350-H19 aluminum, insulated with either polyethylene or XLPE crosslinked polyethylene. Neutral messengers are concentrically stranded 6201, AAC, or ACSR. One conductor is manufactured with an extruded ridge for phase identification.
Used to supply 3 phase power, usually from a pole-mounted transformer, to the user's service head where connection to the service entrance cable is made. To be used at voltages of 600 volts or less phase to phase and at conductor temperatures not to exceed 75℃ for polyethylene insulated conductors or 90℃ for crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated conductors.
