Duplex aluminum overhead cables consist of two conductors: one for electrodes and the other serving as a messenger (neutral conductor). Also known as duplex overhead aluminum wire, this electrical wire is designed and manufactured for use in 120V power distribution facilities. It is aerially installed with a maximum operational temperature rating of 75°C.

As the name suggests, the aluminum drop duplex cable uses aluminum conductors insulated with cross-linked polyethylene for chemical and mechanical protection, forming the circular core. A bare messenger wire made of aluminum is longitudinally laid on the conductors.
