Cable Application

Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) Cable is constructed with a black PVC sheath, XLPE insulation, aluminum conductors, and steel wire armoring. Designed for mains electricity in various applications including underground laying, power networks, and incoming mains to homes for both external and internal use.

This cable is suitable for direct burial, with the steel wire armoring providing additional protection from external damage. The XLPE insulation offers resistance to various fluids and chemicals, excellent heat stability, and UV resistance.

Cable Standards

Complies with BS 5467, IEC/EN 60502-1, IEC/EN 60228, and flame retardant requirements according to IEC/EN 60332-1-2.

Cable Construction
  • Conductors: Plain circular, compacted or shaped stranded aluminum conductor (RE=circular solid, CC=compacted circular stranded, SM=sector shaped stranded)
  • Insulation: XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) rated at 90°C
  • Armour: Galvanized Steel Wires applied helically over the bedding
  • Sheath: Extruded PVC Type ST2 as per IEC 60502-1 or Type 9 as BS 6346/5467
Fire Performance

Cables can be supplied with special flame retardant PVC outer sheath to comply with IEC 60332-3-22, IEC 60332-3-23, and IEC 60332-3-24 standards. Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) materials are also available according to IEC 60502-1, BS 7211, BS 6724, or equivalent standards.
