N2XS(F)H cable is longitudinally waterblocking cable and N2XS(FL)H cable is dual longitudinal and radial waterblocking cable. The voltage is 10kV, 15kV, 20kV, and 30kV. These cables are commonly installed in cable ducts, providing them with additional mechanical protection. Where the N2XS(F)H and N2XS(FL)H versions are particularly important is in the event the ducts become waterlogged. The single and dual waterblocked layers are commonly a water-swellable tape and an additional water-swellable powder, unless destined for clean environments where powder-free cable construction is stipulated and when two tapes are used. These additional layers prevent any ingress of water from reaching the insulation layer and potentially impeding the performance of the underlying conductor.
